Fighting Sioux Score 9 in Third to Complete Comeback

Prince Albert, SK - Prince Albert took a 3 goal lead into the third period, but Standing Buffalo scored 9 in the third to take the 16-12 win over the Outlaws

Standing Buffalo came out hot in this game just like last weekend with Liam Deibel scoring just 14 seconds into the game. He would add another a couple minutes later to make it 2-0 before Kallen Currie would break the goose egg at the 15:56 mark of the first to make it 2-1. Brendin Currie would provide the spark that PA needed just 5 seconds later with a spirited tilt which would end his day early. Brody Macleod would pot his first as an Outlaw to tie the game at 13:37 of the first period. Standing Buffalo’s Jeff Shattler would tickle the twine twice. Brody Holizki would answer back with his first 2 goals of the 2024 season to make it 4-4 after 20 minutes of play.

Brandon Murphy would take the lead for Standing Buffalo at 16:41 of the middle frame. The Outlaws would go on a tear after that scoring 5 straight goals. Holikzi and Ethan Kennedy would each pot a pair while Macleod would also get his second of the game. Deibel and Shattler would both score for Standing Buffalo late in the period. Outlaws captain James Halliday would score his first of the season in the final minutes of the second to send the game into the second intermission with the Outlaws ahead 10-7.

The first 5 minutes of the third was a back and forth affair. Standing Buffalo would get goals from Deibel and Murphy while PA would get goals from Kallen Currie and Kurtis Peifer. The Fighting Sioux would then score 7 unanswered goals to take the lead before holding off for the 16-12 win.

Brody Holizki scored 4 and added 2 assists while Kallen Currie had 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points each. Ethan Kennedy finished the night with 2 goals and and assist. Rookie Brody Maclead, in his first game as an Outlaw was also able to score 2 goals in the loss.

The Outlaws will now have a couple of weeks off before taking on the Regina Heat at 4:30pm on May 11at the Kinsmen Arena in Prince Albert.
